Biological age: the GlycanAge test
Chronological age is the number of years you have lived. Biological age shows how quickly your body is ageing at the molecular level and how it handles inflammation and regeneration.
We analyse glycans attached to immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies to assess biological age from an immune-system perspective. Glycans play an important role in regulating inflammation, and their composition naturally changes with age, lifestyle, stress, sleep quality, nutrition and overall health.
The test may help identify changes associated with long-term low-grade inflammation, one of the biological mechanisms of ageing linked to several chronic diseases. Aezoku Longevity Clinic holds exclusive GlycanAge distribution rights for Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
Who the examination is suitable for
We particularly recommend the examination:
- if you are interested in preventive medicine and taking an active approach to your health
- if you want to know your biological age and compare it with your chronological age
- with long-term stress, fatigue or reduced vitality
- with excess weight, metabolic disorders or a sedentary lifestyle
- as part of programmes focused on healthy ageing
- when planning changes to lifestyle, nutrition or physical activity
- to monitor the effects of long-term lifestyle changes over time
How it works
Initial questionnaire
The doctor assesses your health, lifestyle, eating habits, physical activity and what you hope to learn from the examination.
Sample collection
The test uses a drop of blood from your finger. No fasting or special preparation is required.
Laboratory analysis
The sample is sent to a specialist laboratory abroad for analysis of immunoglobulin G glycans.
Interpretation and recommendations
We explain the result in the context of your health and prepare personalised recommendations for healthy ageing.
What we examine
We analyse glycans attached to immunoglobulin G. These complex carbohydrate structures influence antibody function and help regulate the immune response. Their composition changes throughout life and responds to:
- age
- chronic stress
- sleep quality
- nutrition
- physical activity
- body weight
- metabolic health
- long-term inflammation
How we interpret results
The result is an estimate of biological age based on glycan analysis. It does not replace medical diagnostics or establish the presence of a specific disease. A doctor always interprets results individually alongside your medical history, laboratory findings and lifestyle.
Before your examination
For a smooth examination and the most accurate results, we recommend:
- no special preparation is needed; the sample is a drop of blood from your finger
- fasting is not required
- before testing, you complete a lifestyle questionnaire to support accurate interpretation of the result
- tell the doctor about any medicines and supplements you take
The information on this page is for general information and educational purposes. It does not replace an individual consultation or examination by a doctor.

Answers prepared by our medical team. If something is missing, email or call us.
What is biological age?
Biological age reflects the actual functional state of the body, which may differ from the number of years lived. It reflects how quickly the body ages at the molecular level and how it handles inflammation and regeneration. For some people it is lower than their chronological age, for others higher. The difference can be several years.
How is biological age measured?
At Aezoku Longevity Clinic, we measure it using the GlycanAge test from a drop of blood. The test analyses glycans attached to immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies that regulate inflammation. Their composition changes with age, stress, sleep quality, nutrition and overall health. The sample is processed in a specialist laboratory abroad.
Where can I have a GlycanAge test in Slovakia?
At Aezoku Longevity Clinic in Bratislava, OC Cubicon, Staré Grunty 24. The clinic holds exclusive GlycanAge distribution rights for Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Testing is available directly at the clinic, including sample collection and a follow-up consultation with a doctor.
What are glycans?
Glycans are complex carbohydrate structures attached to proteins. Those on IgG antibodies influence whether an antibody acts in a more inflammatory or anti-inflammatory way. Their composition naturally changes throughout life and responds to age, chronic stress, sleep quality, nutrition, physical activity, body weight and metabolic health.
Can biological age be reduced?
Research suggests that the glycan profile responds to long-term lifestyle changes, particularly nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress management and metabolic control. This is not a change that appears within weeks. That is why repeat measurements and monitoring trends, rather than a single value, make sense.
How often should biological age testing be repeated?
Usually after 6 to 12 months. A shorter interval is not meaningful because the glycan profile changes slowly. For clients in an active programme, we take a follow-up measurement after six months to objectively assess the effect of the measures taken.
Is biological age testing suitable for healthy people too?
Yes, it is primarily intended for them. It is a preventive medicine tool, not a diagnostic test for disease. We recommend it for long-term stress or fatigue, excess weight or a sedentary lifestyle, and when planning changes to eating, exercise or sleep habits.
Does sample collection hurt, and do I need to fast?
The sample is a drop of blood from your finger, with no fasting or special preparation required. The examination is simple and non-invasive. It includes an initial lifestyle questionnaire to support correct interpretation of the result.
Does GlycanAge replace routine laboratory tests?
No. Biological age analysis is a supplementary examination and does not replace preventive check-ups or disease diagnostics. A doctor interprets the result in the context of your medical history and other laboratory findings.
